Sheet Metal Fabrication Services and Capabilities

Northern's fabrication equipment has been chosen to give us many different tools in our toolbox. This variety allows us to choose the optimal set of operations to produce your product to spec for a low cost.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting is a fast and efficient way to produce sheet metal parts with very high degrees of precision and repeatability. Laser cutting is a core competency at Northern, and we have been refining our skills since 1989. We have invested in an automated laser cutting cell with "lights out" manufacturing capabilities and a laser cutting cell with punching capabilities.
   

Punching/Embossing
  Punching and embossing sheet metal components is an extremely cost effective production process. Punching holes is very cheap, and unique forms such as louvers or countersinks. Combination laser/punching machines giver you the advantages of punching with the flexibility of laser cutting.

Water Jet

  Water jet cutting has several unique advantages including the variety of materials it can process and the range of thicknesses. The latest in water jet technology allows us to replace many expensive machining operations and significantly reduce part prices.

Bar and Tube Processing

  Our bar and tube cell allows us to process angles, channels, bars, beams, and tees in addition to standard tubing and pipe. CNC sawing is a cost effective and accurate process. 5-axis laser cutting is used to create complex geometries that would be impossible to create with a saw.

Bending and Forming

  Bending and forming complex sheet metal parts requires talented people and the right equipment. We are often able to form complex shapes out of one piece of material which eliminates expensive welding operations.

Welding and Robotic Welding

  Welding and robotic welding are core to Northern's production process. Our welders are trained in stainless steel fabrication techniques that ensure weld quality and corrosion resistance. Their experience helps them to hold tight tolerances when welding stainless steel.

Northern has invested in state of the art robotic welding equipment with programming software suited for small batch production. An amazingly large work envelop allows this technology to be used on projects both big and small.

Finishing
 

Northern offers chemical and mechanical finishing services, as well as a variety of painting options. some options include:
